A few Independence Day Factoids:

Did you know — the vote for independence from Great Britain actually happened on July 2nd 1776?  John Adams one of the delegates to the Continental Congress wanted the 2nd of July to become known as Independence Day — and reportedly refused appearances at July 4th Independence Day events in protest.

Thomas Jefferson’s document was tweaked by Ben Franklin, Adams & others on July 3rd and into the morning hours of July 4th – before finally being adopted by the Congress later that day.

The Deceleration was not signed until August 2nd.  Another interesting – did you know – regarding July 4th — both Adams and Jefferson died on July 4th 1826 – the 50 year anniversary of the adoption of the Deceleration.

July 4th was made a federal US Holiday in 1870 and a paid holiday for federal employees in 1941.

We’ll remember those who work, fight and die to keep us free. We’ll remember our government works for us.
We’ll remember the Creator put us here to live freely and be happy!
