A brief look back:
1775… not much remains from that age – tanigible anyway. But many important event & organizations such as the start of the American Revolution, which gives rise to what comes to be known as the US Army, remain.
The British are coming!
According to history.com the American Revolution began on April 19 1775. Although there’s a bit of dispute as to whether or not Paul Revere rode through the countryside on the evening of April 18, 1775 shouting that famed phrase, Revere was a part of the Sons of Liberty which, through the Second Continental Congress founded the Army in June of 1775. 240 years ago this week!
The US Army is the oldest service of the United States military. It’s original goal was to protect the freedom of the first 13 colonies, but as Major General Scott Miller states, the Army has “evolved to meet the demands of many different conflicts across different eras.”
